Tenth Month | Monthly Developments

You will continue to notice big changes. You will be surprised at how fast your baby is turning into an independent person.

Height and weight of your baby

  • doneThe normal height for 10 months old baby boy is 69.0 - 77.6 cm and baby girl is 66.8 – 76.1 cm.
  • doneThe normal weight for 10 months old baby boy is 7.5 – 11.2 kg and baby girl is 6.8 – 10.7 kg.

Physical development

  • doneYour baby is an expert crawler now.
  • doneHe or she may pull from a seated position to standing.
  • doneHe or she can squat while holding on or sit back down.
  • doneHe or she can cruise around while holding onto your hands.

Cognitive development

  • doneYour baby has started copying some things you do such as brushing hair or picking up the phone. 
  • doneWhen you ask your baby for “car” or “dog,” he or she may point his or her fingers towards that object.
  • doneYour baby may develop an idea that things continue to exist, even when he or she can’t see them. Continue playing object permanence game with your baby.

Linguistic development

  • doneBy now, your baby should respond to the sound of his or her own name.
  • doneYour baby will continue babbling.
  • doneHe or she may make eye contact and respond to your actions.

Social-emotional development

  • doneYour baby is already performing one-step commands, such as “wave bye-bye” or "clap hands."
  • doneIf you cry at a sad movie, chances are your baby’s face will also crumple up.

Vaccinations for your 10 months old baby

Your doctor may recommend the 3rd dose of Hepatitis B,if not recommended earlier, for your baby.

Baby care tips

  • doneCall your paediatrician, if you notice that your baby isn’t communicating appropriately.
  • doneAlthough your baby isn’t talking yet, engage him or her in real conversations. 

Your Baby’s Diet

  • doneYou can now expand your baby’s eating plate by offering a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, yogurt, and meats. 
  • doneBe sure to avoid giving choking hazards to your baby such as raisins, nuts, popcorn, hard candy and whole grapes.
  • doneOnce you notice that your baby’s teeth have come in, you can introduce food with thicker consistencies and finger foods by cutting up into small pieces.
